WEEE Open Scope enters into force on 15th August 2018

On 15th August 2018 the new open scope entered in to force on a European level. Due to this all producers, importers and retailers are facing some significant changes.

It means that from this date on all electronical and electrical devices fall under the scope of the new WEEE directive – unless they are not explicitly excluded.

Companies have to proof why their products should be exempt or may refer to a national list in which excluded products will be mentioned.

Another change will be the reduction from 10 WEEE categories to 6 whereas the latter will still be separated in many sub-categories which differ from country to country so that the complexity remains and liable companies have to fulfil many different obligations in their export countries.

Feel free to contact Go4Recycling on all those issues – we are more than happy to help.
