PPWR – Additional Information & Guidelines

As highlighted in our previous newsletters, the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will introduce significant changes for businesses across Europe. To support you in preparing for these new requirements, we would like to share some additional information sources that provide practical guidance on the implementation of the PPWR.

The German packaging authority (ZSVR) provides comprehensive and practical information on its PPWR information pages. In particular, we recommend the articles on the distinction between a producer and a manufacturer  and extended producer responsibility (EPR) for private labels and imports, which explain future responsibilities through clear, practical examples.

Another valuable resource is the PPWR Guideline published by ARA (Altstoff Recycling Austria), Austria’s largest packaging EPR scheme.

ARA | ARA Leitfaden zur PPWR

The guideline is available in both German and English and provides a clear overview of the key aspects of the PPWR, including timelines, roles and responsibilities, as well as the main obligations and requirements.
