“Passive” electric devices will fall under the ElektroG scope from 01.05.2019 on

According to an official statement of the Stiftung EAR, manufacturers and distributors of so-called passive devices have to register their products in the future.

The new regulation only applies to devices that are designed for operation with an AC voltage of up to 1,000 volts or a DC voltage of up to 1,500 volts. This includes, for example, high end cables, sockets and light switches. But simple cables , wire end ferrules and ring cable lugs are still not covered by the German WEEE law.

Some product examples can be found on the website of the EAR Foundation.

These requirements differ from country to country within the EU.

If you have any questions about passive devices, you can of course also contact us at any time.
