The new producer responsibility regulation for packaging in Sweden came into force on January 1st 2023.
The Swedish government has decided to make some amendments to the packaging regulation. The core aim was to remove some exceptions for foreign producers and therefore close a loophole.
This means that formerly excluded foreign online sellers are now directly liable and have to ensure packaging compliance for their packaging being sold and sent to Swedish business and household clients.
