The non-profit EPR take-back scheme for electrical equipment and batteries, ERA, has announced an increase in EPR recycling fees in Austria effective July 1, 2026. The reason for this adjustment is rising collection, transport, and treatment costs, as well as technological changes within the recycling sector.
The following categories are particularly affected:
- Display equipment
- Lithium portable batteries
- Batteries for light means of transport (E-Bike batteries)
- Gas discharge lamps (significant increase)
As a non-profit organization, ERA calculates its tariffs on a cost-covering and fair allocation basis in order to ensure the long-term fulfillment of collection and recycling obligations.
All current information regarding fees, categories, and reporting obligations in Austria is available in our customer portal. We recommend that our customers regularly review the information provided there to stay informed about changes and current developments.
