The Spanish customs agency has declared that they will increase their controls on products and goods from so-called third countries with regard to WEEE and battery register numbers from 16th of January 2023 on.
This is accompanied by increased general environmental compliance controls on the Spanish market. Buyers and importers will face massive problems in clearing their goods from customs if the WEEE (Registro RII-AEE número) and Battery (Registro RII-PYA número) register numbers are not shown or do not exist at all. Goods and products from EU states are not mentioned explicitely in this announcement – but they will surely also be checked from time to time.
We would like to remind you that it is mandatory to show the WEEE and battery number on invoices, sales documents and/or websites when selling products to Spain.
