On 1 October 2025, the extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme for packaging will enter into force. The Danish extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme for packaging Emballageretur will get into force and informed all clients about their upcoming procedure such as invoicing and payment schedules.
First invoices are being issued and sent out from August 2025 on. Final fees and not known yet and will be published after summer.
The total cost of the EPR scheme for packaging is estimated at DKK 2.3 billion. As a collective scheme, Emballageretur must cover the share of costs corresponding to the total volume of packaging placed on the market by our members.
The expenses covered by the producers´ payments include municipal collection and handling of household packaging waste, handling and reimbursement of commercial packaging waste, financial guarantees, and administrative services such as data processing and communication.
Emballageretur points out that they are a non-profit organisation and will only collect what is necessary to fulfil the financial obligations they undertake on the producer´s behalf.
