In Austria, the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) take back schemes for WEEE, batteries, and packaging, have significantly increased their recycling fees for the year 2024.

- Cost pressures affecting all value-added stages in collection and recycling
- License quantities declining due to inflation of consumer goods and an uncertain political situation since autumn 2022
- Drastic reduction in commodity prices, especially for waste paper and plastics, with uncertain prospects for a reversal affecting recycling revenues
