End-User Information Requirements for Batteries in Denmark

The Danish take back scheme for batteries Batteriretur published news for end user information in Denmark. From 1 December 2025, all producers and retailers will be required to provide end-users with clear information on the proper handling and disposal of batteries.

This applies to both physical retail locations and online stores. Going forward, visible and easy-to-understand information must be provided at the point of sale.

To make compliance straightforward, Batteriretur has prepared a communications kit that meets the requirements set out in Article 74 of the Battery Regulation for portable batteries and batteries for light means of transport (LMT).

The kit contains and consists of

  • Labelling and symbols –  Explanations of the most common symbols and their relevance for correct sorting and safety.
  • Safe handling and health risks – Guidance on safe handling of batteries with a particular focus on lithium batteries and fire prevention.
  • Collection and return – Practical guidelines on how end-users should return used batteries correctly.

The mentioned kit can be obtained from Go4Recycling upon request and is available for a free download on the Batteriretur website as well.

If you have any further questions on packaging, WEEE and battery compliance in Denmark please do not hesitate to contact the Go4Recycling team.
