At the beginning of April, the Swiss Federal Council published a draft of the revised Swiss WEEE law(VREG). This draft will be analysed by various working groups and market participants in the next step.
The VREG legislation in Switzerland is comparable to the national WEEE legislation in the EU. It regulates the take-back and proper disposal of electrical equipment in Switzerland. Sustainable recycling in Switzerland can be financed by the so-called advance recycling fees (vRG), which are already paid when an electrical appliance is purchased.
