After the labelling obligation for sales packaging with the green dot became an option and are no longer mandatory in France at the beginning of 2017 there were plans to create a new take back scheme for packaging in competition to the monopoly system Citeo (formerly Ecoemballages) throughout the year. But those efforts were not successful and so for now the status quo in the French packaging sector remains a monopoly.
Furthermore there are some news within the French WEEE sector besides the open scope changes. The take back schemes Eco-Systèmes and Recylum join forces and become the new system ES-R that starts on 1st of January 2018.
